"Gifting Art for Mother's Day"

As our forsythia is about to burst into a brilliant golden yellow display and the robins are building new nests, we know that spring is here. We are doing many things to add more spring to our lives. At no other time of the year does so much energy go into the glorious changes we enjoy in nature. Give a gift this spring that will last all year. You can give a "painting class" to a mother or a friend. You will be amazed at how special a gift of painting can be.

Over the past 2 years, I have been asked to offer classes in my "studio in the barn." Several new and adventurous artists, both men and women, have come to class. This past October, we displayed their artwork at an open house party. The artists were thrilled to hear the well deserved, positive comments from our guests.

Since Mother's Day is coming in May, you have an opportunity to give the " Gift of Art" to someone you love or admire. We have "Gift Certificates for Classes" and a special discount coupon for "Art Gifting" you will find at the bottom of this newsletter.

Please forward this newsletter to family and friends who enjoy art. Thank You!

"Class Schedule"

Our classes are called "Directed Open Studio." The artists work on various projects using different mediums. This season we plan to add a weekday class to our offerings. Classes will begin on Saturday, April 30, from 11 am to 1pm. Refreshments are available before class during set up time. Fee is $25. per studio hour with 2 hour minimum. $50. per session. Additional painting hour is $25.

We recommend that artists joining us for the first time "sign up" for 3 Saturday sessions so they will have the time to complete their piece. $150. However, you may start by taking one class. Supplies are not included in class fee.

We are looking forward to painting with our "returning" artists on April 30. Many artists will continue to paint on canvas. However, we will also have several new painting project ideas including floorcloths, table runners, place mats, painting on furniture and painting storage boxes.

We will be having a special complementary demonstration of Sumi-e painting given by Kay Pearsall in May.  The date will be announced in our next newsletter.

We have also had requests for youth and teen classes. Please call Johanne for additional information: 978-356-8838.

"Garden Decor"

We have been looking for some fun and unusual garden decorations and we have found some great pieces. We are avid flower gardeners and know that the addition of a beautiful garden stake or a whimsical folk art piece can add an artful detail to your garden.

We now have available a selection of colorful lucite handled stakes, whimsical folk art bird stakes and some really unusual pairs of colorful metal and glass peacocks. In addition, we have beautiful white metal love bench with matching chairs and table. All of our new garden pieces are available but in very limited quantities. We take pride in selecting unique pieces that will enhance the beauty of your garden.

If you haven't had a chance to stop into our shop, we offer American hand crafted home goods, textiles, pottery, native American silver jewelry and baskets. We have complete collection of Johanne's framed canvas giclees in several sizes, tote bags and a selection of her greeting cards.
