Harvest Moon
"Simply put it is about ALL AMERICAN LIVING"

Folk Magazine popped up on my Facebook page in October. It kept popping up for several days on different pages. So, I decided to find out what all the buzz was about.

I left a message for Hillary at Folk Magazine and she left me a time to call her back. Hillary is Marketing Manager for Folk. I tried to reach her but got her answering machine. Hillary called me back.
This gentle sounding, gracious young woman apoloziged for "being in class" when I called. I asked her if she was a teacher at Kentucky U and she said, " No, I am a student." HIllary went on to tell me " how the idea behind Folk magazine came from months of conversations with friends." Many are now part of this team."  Many of the contributors are still in college. Hillary explained that through social media the first edition of Folk Magazine was completely sold out before the first issue had gone to print!  What an inspiring success story! What a beautiful magazine!

We have the First Edition and you can come into Olde Ipswich Shop to read it. It is an amazing magazine with wonderful back road stories, great photographs and an article entitled: "The Cakes that Raised Me." It is chock full of Americana, primitives and memories from our lives. Most certainly one of the most exciting publications I have read in years.

We have ordered some copies of the next issue, November/December of Folk Magazine to sell in our shop. We have a very limited number. If you want us to hold on to one for you, please email us. The retail price is $6.95.

The header of News Brush is our full page ad in this upcoming holiday issue of Folk Magazine.
Passion for Primitives
by Franklin & Esther Schmidt

Franklin and Esther Schmidt live in West Virginia. On a trip to our area, they drove by our Olde Ipswich shop and stopped in to say hello. The result of their visit was an article they styled and photographed entitled: "Bed, Breakfast and Beyond" published in Country Sampler Magazine, January, 2010.

Now, Franklin and Esther have published a fabulous book, Passion for Primitives. This incredible husband and wife team have been traveling the United States taking amazing photographs of homes, interiors and gardens for many years. Their work has been published in more than 50 top architecture, decorator and design magazines.

They have created a large, gorgeous photographic tour of private homes throughout America. The book reveals the unusual ability of homeowners to artistically combine their personal collections in rustic, historic and contemporary homes.

Esther's writing is an informed conversational approach to understanding and using primitives. Franklin has selected 200 of his gorgeous photographs for this beautiful book. We are honored that the Schmidt's chose a picture of our redware collection to put in their new book, Passion for Primitives. This book would be a fabulous gift for anyone who enjoys design, decorating and architecture. It is available on Amazon books. You can also get a signed copy.
