"Come Paint in the John Adams Carriage House"

Enjoy a fun afternoon painting at the Adams National Historic Park, Quincy, MA. Johanne Cassia will be leading two "Painting Parties" offered by the National Park Service during their annual "Art in The Park" festivities on: Saturday, August 23 and Sunday, August 24. Both classes will be from 1 - 4 PM. These two classes will be offered "free" by reservation only. Seating is limited.  A tour of the Adams homes and library are included as part of this program.

The class, led by Johanne Cassia, will follow a model she painted of the brown, "Salt Box" house owned by John Adams. As an early American folk artist, Johanne has created a folk painting that depicts the 17th C house as it stood on 7 acres with a housewife garden, corn, pumpkins and trees laden with colorful Autumn leaves.

Beginners and adventurous artists are encouraged to attend this program offered "free" by the National Park Service. Johanne will provide the model painting, step by step instruction, paints, easels and 16 X 20 canvases. Artists should wear "painting clothes" because class will use acrylic paints. Artists will take home a completed painting ready to frame.

To register for Saturday, August 23 or Sunday, Aug. 24, 1-4 PM, contact: Director Karen Yourell at the Adams National Historical Park, 135 Adams Street, Quincy, MA 02169-1749 by phone (617) 770-1175. Refreshments will be provided by the Adams National Historic Park.

  "Rebecca Nurse Painting Party"

This event is being brought back by popular demand. This was a "sell out" event last year. Come find your "inner artist" and support an important historic site at the same time.

Johanne will be offering a "Fund Raiser" painting party at the historic Rebecca Nurse Museum in Danvers, MA on Sunday, September 14 from 1-4 PM.  This "Painting Party" will be held in the Meeting House on the grounds. It was built by PBS to be used for 2 films. The trial scene in the movie, "The Crucible" was filmed in the Meeting House. Walk back in time and paint a winter scene of the iconic "Rebecca Nurse House."

Beginner and experienced artists are invited to attend. All supplies are included and you will bring home a 16 X 20 inch house portrait ready to frame and hang on your walls.
