"Fun with Fireworks"

Fireworks on the 4th of July always created great excitement for me and my family. My hometown is Cambridge, MA so we loved to go to sit on the grass along the Charles river, bring a picnic lunch, listen to the music from the band in the Half Shell and watch the fireworks. Our fun family event morphed into a huge event along the Charles River in Cambridge enjoyed by thousands.

This fun memory of fireworks, picnics and celebrations came alive again when I attended the fireworks displays with my sister and her family in Wilmington, MA a few years ago. In Wilmington, fireworks have been the highlight of their July 4th celebration. The Wilmington fireworks displays have always been fantastic. Their displays have attracted crowds of people but still maintained the feeling of a community event. They even built a permanent fireworks building facing the common to house their festive decorations.

My "Fireworks on the Common" painting, which you see in progress in the header, was the model painting I used this past month for a class in Wilmington sponsored by the MA Local Cultural Council. The class was so much fun to work with and they created some amazing paintings. There was lots of painting and lots of conversations about fireworks. Take a look at their progress in the pictures in the left margin. Just click to enlarge pictures.
Paint "Fireworks" or "Lighthouses" in June

Come paint in my Studio in my barn, on Sunday, June 7 from 1 - 4 PM or Thursday, evening, June 4, 5:30 - 8:30 PM. If you've taken a class with me before you know that you will bring home a painting that you will enjoy. If you haven't taken one, this is the time to join in the fun. Many people haven't picked up a brush since they were in grade school. Folk art is a great way to recapture some of the joys we experienced when we were young.

Beginners and experienced painters welcome. Come express your "inner child." Come with a friend or give as a gift to a special person in your life.

This group will have the opportunity to paint the "Fireworks" or the "Lighthouse." You will paint a 16" X 20" canvas ready to hang in your home or office. We will follow model painting, use artist tools and a few stencils if you prefer.

Classes in my studio are very limited in size. Please register asap. If you are not in the local area and would enjoy this fun painting experience, contact our historic B&B home, the Rogers & Brown House B&B to make a room reservation, 978-356-9600, rbreservations@comcast.net.

The $65.00 fee includes: 16" X 20" canvas, use of paints and brushes, step by step guided instruction by me and some yummy cool drinks and refreshments. We will use acrylic paints that are permanent so wear painting clothes. Please contact me: jcassia@comcast.net or 978-356-8838 asap.
